We have received the following update from the Senior Environmental Health Officer regarding monitoring for flies around the village.
Just to confirm our weekly inspections of both sheds at Loodall Farm have been completed yesterday (18th July). I am pleased to say the new shed, we took over 60 samples and the entire shed is maggot free and has been so now for over 5 weeks.
The older shed did have some samples did contain single maggots at the far end of the shed. This is the first maggots found since May. However, there was a very high predatory beetle larva present and the number of houseflies within the shed was very low. Despite this low number a precautionary spray of larvicide will be applied.
