PARKING CONSULTATION:
to control (including applying yellow lines in some areas) or not

Your views are needed: whether to press RCC to introduce parking controls in the village will depend on what the majority (who express a view) want.

There have been concerns about parking for some time so in 2019 RCC’s Parking Manager was asked to look at the issue in the village – particularly at the impact during the day in term time.

He concluded that the only viable option for control was the introduction of yellow lines in some areas near the school. (He considered and rejected other suggestions for legal and practical reasons). Where there is dangerous driving or parking the Police may be able to advise.

There are only two options being offered:

    1. Do not introduce parking controls and yellow lines; status quo
    2. Have yellow lines. These could be either on Stapleford Road and Main Street  (around the triangle)  or that area plus Oakham Road (to just beyond Melton Rd junction), Melton Road by that junction, Main Street (on the school-side) down to the bridge, the edge of the Green on Main Street and a section on the other side of the road by the bus-stop near the Green. [The Parish Council favoured the smaller area].
