Beanie Hat

For this month’s pattern I have chosen a warm, cosy Beanie Hat with a curled brim and hidden slightly tighter band that helps it stay on. I used Pure Merino wool as it is soft and machine washable, but any Double Knitting yarn will be OK.
For this hat, you will need: DK yarn, approx. 50gms, No 4mm and 3.75mm needles
With 4mm needles cast on 110 sts, knit 10 rows stocking stitch. Change to 3.75mm needles. Next row: knit 9 sts, K2tog, rep till end of row (100sts), st st 4 rows. Next row: knit 9sts, inc in next st, rep, (110sts). Change to 4mm needles, knit in stocking st till measures approx 5”. Next row: knit 9 sts, K2tog, rep to end of row. Next row: purl. Carry on decreasing on each knit row by reducing the number of sts before the K2tog (eg next row would be knit 8, K2tog) until there are 10sts, thread yarn through these 10 sts and sew up, remembering to sew the curled brim on the outside. Decorate with your choice of flowers or other motifs.
