A message from Councillor Rosemary Powell

Following the Government announcement yesterday, you will have seen that people in the city are now under stricter lockdown measures and should not travel apart from essential journeys.

Rutland County Council is working closely with Leicester and Leicestershire Councils as they monitor and control this outbreak. Rutland now has its own local outbreak management plan which can be viewed here

In contrast the rest of the UK is looking forward to some release of restrictions this weekend and here in Rutland pubs, restaurants and hairdressers will open from 4th July as planned and Rutland Water remains open.

Our proximity to Leicester and the increase in cases there, brings home to us in Rutland the need to continue to follow the guidance on Covid-19 to keep our communities safe.

  • observe social distancing
  • wash your hands regularly
  • stay at home as much as possible
  • limit contact with others
