The nocturnal survey on 28th May went well. The surveyors confirmed where the Natterer’s bats were roosting in the western end of the nave ceiling and where they exit and return to the church via the kitchen area (primary) and the lady chapel (secondary). 61 Natterer’s bats emerged from the church in _ total, which is a sizeable colony. There were also a small number of common pipistrelles and soprano pipistrelles using parts of the church (same areas) but no sign of a significant roost for either of these species.

The next follow up survey will take place during the week — commencing 19th July
