Well, now you know – Cinderella didn’t go to the Ball in a golden coach transformed from a pumpkin by the Fairy Godmother but on a golden skateboard transformed from a sausage by the Hairy Godmother!

Thanks to everyone who came along to see the true story of Cinderella as told by David Tristram in his extremely funny and inventive script. It was a shame that we didn’t have bigger audiences but those who came certainly seemed to enjoy themselves and, as usual, were very appreciative of our efforts.
We welcomed three new acting recruits this year, Laura who played Prince Charming, Jacquie who played Cinderella and Clare who was to play Dandini. Unfortunately Clare had to withdraw from performing due to ill health and Tracey Horsey stepped in at the last minute. Amazingly, she managed to learn all her lines in two days and gave three brilliant performances. Well done Tracey! It was such a shame that Clare was unable to take part after all her hard work and we wish her a speedy recovery. Laura and Jacquie took to the stage as if born to it and gave great performances. The junior chorus were a joy this year, enthusiastic and well behaved. They danced beautifully and sang their hearts out from the very first rehearsal so well done to our regulars, Nicholas, Jenny, Hannah, Daisy and Layla and newcomers, James, Amara, Molly and Shannon. You were fantastic! Thanks too of course to all our regular actors who gave wonderful performances.

Thanks must go to Rob Edwards, our Musical Director, who worked extremely hard on the singing and gave everyone so much more confidence. Michael McSweeney was our Stage Manager this year – there was a lot to do and he did it very efficiently virtually single handed. As usual the costumes were beautiful, thanks to Sarah, Jean and Jill. As someone who can barely sew up a hem, it always astounds me how they can create such stunning costumes – and hardly spend any money doing so! Elaine, assisted by Jenny, Annette and Jane, created some wonderful effects with garish make up and sparkly false eyelashes on the two Ugly Sisters and the Hairy Godmother who all certainly seemed to enjoy the experience! Finally thanks to Annette and her team who ran the refreshments and bar. The panto is always a great team effort and in all over 40 people were involved in some way – many thanks to everyone who took part, either on stage or backstage.
