Whissendine Church Flower Festival – August Bank Holiday weekend
On the Move: Life in Motion

The flower festival is a major village event which is put on every other year and attracts many people from outside Whissendine. Beautiful themed flower arrangements are displayed at the church and delicious refreshments are served at the village hall.

Everyone can be involved!

Come and volunteer: We need volunteers to serve, wash up, and prepare food at the village hall, to steward at the church and for many other jobs. If you can help for a few hours over the weekend please contact Sarah or Rosemary by 9th August with your preferred days and times. Offers of cakes as well please!

Come and help with the flowers: We will be making small table and pew decorations on Wednesday 21st August at the church from 10am until 4pm. Instructions, all equipment and flowers will be provided. Come and join in. All ages welcome, no experience necessary.

Buy a ticket to the Preview evening: Friday 23rd August 7pm until 9pm. Come and admire the flowers and enjoy a social evening at the church with drinks, canapes and songs from the ‘lastminutesingers’. Tickets are available in advance at £7.50 each from the village shop and members of the flower festival committee

Donate to the Produce Stall and Tombola: Please contact Hilda to offer donations for the tombola and Eileen and Joan for the produce stall (jams, chutneys, plants, fruit and vegetables). The stall will be outside the church on Monday 26th August.

Come to Songs of Praise: at 5pm on Sunday 25th August at the church.

Bring your family and friends to the festival and to have tea or lunch at the village hall: Opening times are on the poster.  Entrance is free but donations are welcome. Monies raised are for church funds with all profits from refreshments going to the village hall.

Have a chance to win a painting, kindly donated by Alan Oliver, a lovely gold-plated necklace, or a golf day for 4 donated by Stapleford Park.

We look forward to a successful and enjoyable weekend
From the Flower Festival Committee
