The Whissendine 6ix (six mile) road race and walk was first staged in 1985 and has become a popular event in the running calendar. The event starts and finishes in the village with the course following a natural circuit bordering Stapleford Park.

The Whissendine 6ix road race is open to both individual runners and teams of over six, which must contain at least two females. Live commentary will be provided on the night.

All entrants receive a race memento and bottle of beer supplied by race sponsors Grainstore Brewery in Oakham, there will be prizes for all category winners. The village Brownies will provide a barbecue on race night too.
