Thanks to sponsorship from The Cory Environmental Trust in Rutland and the Parish Council, Whissendine Environmental Group (WEG) has had a working party of volunteers clear the excess ivy, some of the scrub and generally tidying up along the footpath.

On the 26th and 27th November 2014, from 9am to 4pm,Tree Surgeons will reduce all the hawthorn (that have over grown into trees) to hedge height, also taking out unsafe ash branches and an elder tree. If you need to use the footpath during this time please can you wait for the tree surgeons to tell you it is safe and escort you through.

WEG will be selling unseasoned logs, raising funds for future maintenance costs, please contact one of the committee if you would like to buy some.

WEG still need volunteers to help plant in the spring, plus volunteers willing to go on a rota to maintain the area and be trained in hedge laying / coppicing.
