First Whissendine WI fun dog show

What a great afternoon!!  We started in a downpour but in true British style we soldiered on and had 76 entries over the 7 classes😊.  All the dogs, and their owners, were so well behaved.

There were 7 classes and the winners were

• Class 1 Best old timer (over 8 years) Mia with owner Sarah
• Class 2 Prettiest bitch Lily with owners Chris and Cassie
• Class 3 Handsomest dog Sarge with owner Haley 
• Class 4 Waggiest tail Jess with owners Ted and Tilly
• Class 5 Young handler (under 10 years) Simba with owner Jonas
• Class 6 Best rescue Tammie with owner Lis
• Class 7 Best condition Digby with owner Charlotte

Then the winners of each class were invited to join the final class: 

• Class 8 Best in show/ judge’s choice and the winner was Great Dane Sarge with owner Haley!!

Every dog that entered had a rosette with the winners of each class having a voucher and a bag full of doggy goodies courtesy of Tails and Whiskers in Oakham.   

The show was supported by many local businesses.  So can we thank Tails and Whiskers and SAPS in Oakham and from Whissendine the White Lion Pub, Cap and Copper Gin, Isobel Pearce the Oakham dog walker, Jayne Saville of Train with Jayne dog training.     

So many people, WI members and non WI members, worked tirelessly to make this event a success. Without all of them pulling together, plus of course the dogs who brought their owners along and our generous donors of raffle prizes and cakes, we could not have enjoyed such a wonderful, if wet, day together. So thank you everyone but special thanks to Jenny Whatmough the first aider, compere David Penny, Sir Laurence Howard for presenting the prizes and of course our judge vet Captain Andy Rose.
