Whissendine Craft and Produce Show
Another great show!

Whissendine Craft and Produce Show was held on Saturday 3rd September at St Andrew’s Church. It was another great show with 86 exhibitors and over 460 exhibits and the Church looked magnificent again with so much colour and wonderful scents.

It is amazing how many talented people live in Whissendine in terms of art, craft, baking, photography and of course growing wonderful flowers and impressive vegetables, even in this difficult year with the hot dry summer.  It was particularly good to see so many entering the two Junior Classes this year.

Lots of people came to view when the show re-opened after judging and enjoyed a cup of tea with delicious homemade cake.  They then stayed to see the Reverend Deborah Marsh congratulate everyone who had entered and award the prizes.  The winners of the different sections and classes are as follows:

A few words about the anonymous judging process

The judges all come from outside the village. When they look at the exhibits, all they see is the number that each entrant is given when they register.  The names are only added by the stewards after the decisions have been made as to who came first, second and third.

Points are allocated with three points for first place, two for second and one point for third place.  It is the entrant with the highest points in each section that becomes at section winner and is awarded the relevant trophy.
