The Whissendine Happy Circle club met on Wednesday the 4th March at 1:15pm in the Village Hall. The business meeting was held after a delicious meal of homemade soup and dessert. Two new members were welcomed and two more new members will be joining us next month.

Two ladies from the Red Cross in Oakham gave a short talk on a scheme called First Call Rutland and each member of the Club was given an explanatory leaflet. This Scheme has been set up to help people stay in their own homes by offering them services such as postoperative support, help with shopping or just visits for companionship.

Our main speaker of the afternoon was the well known comic, gardener and magistrate, David Penny. It was a very entertaining and enlightening afternoon learning about and taking part in a Magistrate’s “Life on the Bench”.

Our next meeting is on Wednesday the 1st of April 2015 at 1:15pm in the Village Hall.
New members would be made most welcome. Please contact Ann Edmunds on Whissendine 279.
