On Sunday 11th November, Whissendine WI had a World Kindness Day afternoon tea. The aim of World Kindness Day is to ‘try to make the world a better place by celebrating and promoting good deeds and acts of kindness, either as individuals or as organisations’. It was even more special as this was 100 years since the end of WW1. The village hall looked great with the red white and blue decorations and it was lovely to see so many people enjoying cups of tea and the delicious homemade cakes. But most important was that the room was filled with people chatting with friends and neighbours, old and new – just what we wanted! The tea and cake were free but we received £132 in donations, which have gone to the Royal British Legion. A really great village community afternoon.
